IF ALL NEEDS ARE MET: 28-11-09: TWITTER NL THANKSGIVING DINNER PARTY 2009

An idea has been put forward to organise a Thanksgiving Dinner Party for all Twitterazzi interested in participating in and celebrating this feast, that in the US tradition, celebrates how good things really are for us. It is important to find out how large interest really is, so that appropriate arrangements can be made in the coming weeks. This will include finding and finalising a location (based on projected participants), setting up the logistical planning and centralised parts of the organisation.

What will happen and what needs to be done ?

In the US tradition, the central organisation will provide the location, the infrastructure and the Turkeys with stuffing, say 1 for every table of 8 persons (depending on size of the bird).
Participants take care of all other dishes such as sweet potatoes, cranberry thingies, salads, pumpkin pies, pecan pies and anything else that symbolises harvest, be it American or typical of your country.
I am sure our expat Tweeps can supply dozens of receipes from their celebrations back home.

As it looks now, the location will insist on providing the drinks, but we may be able to arrange things differently, so that bringing wine, water and juices would also be appreciated.

Any location we end up in will need to be decorated in style and cleaned up afterwards, we will be asking for volunteers once planning becomes more definite!

Once we can confirm location and date, we may also decide to arrange a band and other trimmings for the evening; at that point we should set up (I know, it's tiresome) an organising group, so that things can be done efficiently and correctly from the outset.
It would be good, for instance, if someone specialised in marketing could market the event as I am simply to rational to be good at this :-). A big party like this probably merits it's own website.

As far as I can foresee the location will be in 020, presumably near the ZuidAs; I think it should be easy to reseve a block of hotel rooms nearby for tweeps from outside of 020 who wish to stay overnite. Please indicate if you think you require this.

This form is not your reservation, it serves to gauge what interest exists; we will confirm with you once we have a better idea of how many people to expect. In the light of the celebration, we need AT LEAST 100 people to make it as symbolic as it should be, a big fun party!

I am willing to help with reserving a block of hotels. In fact, EasyToBook will make the Twitterazi Ning an affiliate to be able to give extra discount, up to 15% of the hotelrate. (depending on the hotel that will be chosen)
Is there a 'twitterazi' bank account where the affiliate commission can be wired to?

Helaas, ben aan het werk op 28 november. Ik wens jullie veel plezier, vooral met de vegetarische turkey :). Moet makkelijk te vinden zijn, of eten ze ook insecten, die kalkoenen ...?
